E/PS 8000-3U Laboratory Power Supply 3.3-150 kW The microprocessor controlled programmable DC-Power Supplies »E/PS 8000-3U« of EPS Electronic Power Supplies are ideally suited for test systems and industrial control facilities. The units provide reliable power in many areas. In safety area the model (> 6,6kW) are redundant, means they have multiple power stages and will continue working at least one power stage remains operable.

The unit for 3U rack mounting offers output voltages up to 1500V and output current upon 510A. The flexible output power provides a higher output voltage or a higher output current, always limited to the maximum nominal output power (5, 10 and 15kW). Therefore a wide range of applications can already be covered by the use of just on single unit. All models have a System-bus terminal, which allows a serial- and parallel operation with symmetric current sharing (Master/Slave) fast and easily with an output Power up to 150kW. In order to ease adjusting of values by the existing rotary encoders, it can be switched between coarse and fine setting mode, just by a key stroke. With the lock push button the controls can be locked, in order to protect the equipment from unintentional misuse.

Besides the units are provided with a memory function for five different preset values, with the ability to save and recall these just by the push of a button. The analog interface is standard. Optional Plug&Play interfaces for USB, GPIB and Profibus can be installed. Included with the interface cards a free Windows Software is available (USB) which provides control and monitoring, data logging and automated sequences. The integration into existing systems is done very comfortably by using an interface card.The power supply units can so e.g. be operated in a group with other power supply units and/or several can be controlled by a PLC or master-unit with analog interface.
In addition the devices offer the possibility to connect the compatible power supplies via a Shared Bus, in order to create a so-called two-quadrant system. Typical applications i.e. for the source-sink principle are: battery test with automatic charge and discharge cycles, automotive electronic tests with simulation of transients (like voltage break-ins during engine starts) and cyclic charging and discharging of capacitors.
