Hybrid and electric drives for vehicles are developed increasingly for a sustainable and environmentally safe mobility. Development-accompanying tests within this range like e.g. the simulation of the electrical system, simulation of energy storages (i.e. Li-Ion battery simulation) units require extremely high power.

EPS Electronic Power Supplies has specialized in these applications and supplies now a test solution EPS/TSDCR co-ordinated with the requirements: Up to 500 KW in a voltage range from 5 to 1000 V and current range up to 1200 A, as they are needed for tests by appropriate components such as inverters, batteries (charge and discharge) and fuel cells, too. The systems can operate in parallel after a modular concept.

The testsystem operates as source-sink feeds back into the grid with high efficiency power conversion obviating the need for external load and it is redundant. Such feed back into grid is crucial feature in these test applications which works with unusually high power.

All units have an electrically isolated output and have a TFT touch panel for for entering and/or displaying the values. . They are controllable via CAN, MOD-Bus, SCPI/TCP-IP, VNC (via Ethernet).
The system can be programmed freely and has specific algorithms, which most diverse tests make possible like e.g. the boost loading of batteries or battery simulation. Further applications are appropriate for test of fuel cells and feed-in at solar plants (Option Inverter), electric motors, supercaps as well as peak load illustrations. Comprehensive protective measures, such as an integrated event memory and a programmable safety system (level "d") for standard round out the concept.
The system can be customized "upgraded", eg with an additional discharge unit during a power failure (mode simulator), impedance measurement (mode tester) or a water cooling system (IP53).
